2020 Toyota Corolla Hybrid; Specs, Release Date, Platform
Greatly anticipated return for winter 2019, when the Tokyo brand will present the 2020 Toyota Corolla Hybrid. Declined in the hatchback, sedan and station wagon outfits, the new Toyota Corolla will replace Auris, currently dedicated to the c segment of the Japanese range
Presented at the Geneva Motor Show 2018 as the new Toyota Auris, the C segment par excellence of the Japanese brand will debut with the name Toyota Corolla 2019 in the first months of next year. The reasons for this choice are there for all to see. Corolla is today the best-selling car in the world since the end of the Nineties: to date, it has registered 45 million copies, although in 2007 the name was abandoned.

To date, the prestige of a nomenclature so universally recognized in rallies, in the mass culture and in the affections of those who have had one in the family have convinced the leaders of the brand to reverse the route. This is a welcome return that underlines a clear evolution of the model, primarily through the adoption of the new TNGA platform, an acronym for Toyota New Global Architecture.
The car will be declined in the hatchback, sedan and station wagon versions and, as is known, no Diesel variant will be commercialized. Production in Europe has been entrusted to the British plant in Bernardston, in Derbyshire but there is already talk of the first complications regarding the export due to Brexit.
Likewise, the latest update of Toyota ‘s Full-Hybrid Electric, based on the 2-liter petrol engine combined with a self-charging electric unit, also debuts. Having tested the Toyota hybrid for a long time we can expect a system capable of driving the new Corolla over 26Km with a liter of green in the inhabited areas.
“The design and design philosophy of the new TNGA platform gives a new dimension to our next-generation C-segment models,” said Johan van Zyl, president, and CEO of Toyota Motor Europe. “The renowned values of Quality, Durability, and Reliability of the Corolla range will be strengthened by more emotional values that our customers aspire to, such as distinctive design, interior refinement, enhanced performance and powerful and efficient Full-Hybrid Electric engines. What better time to launch a completely new range to reintroduce the Corolla brand in the C segment? “
The 2020 Toyota Corolla Hybrid will be officially presented at the next Paris Motor Show (scheduled for October) and will be marketed in the early months of next year.
