2020 Skoda Kodiaq RS Review: Sportiest 7 Seater SUVs
2020 Skoda Kodiaq RS debuts on the market at a list price of € 48,900. It is the most powerful Skoda SUV ever: it is equipped with four-wheel drive and is 4.70 meters long.
The top model of the bohemian car manufacturer’s SUV range, Skoda Kodiaq RS is a sporty model with a look and performance. Equipped with a 240hp Diesel twin turbo engine (the most powerful diesel propeller in the history of the Freccia Alata brand), the Kodiaq RS is a high-performance SUV capable of running in 9: 29.84 minutes on the most demanding circuit of the world, the Nürburgring Nordschleife. If this were not enough, remember that the car is equipped with Dynamic Sound Boost, for a particularly “bad” and exciting sound.
2020 Skoda Kodiaq RS is equipped with all-wheel drive as standard technology that guarantees exceptional dynamism on the road and off-road. The Diesel engine convinces both in terms of consumption and, of course, for performance: thanks to the perfect combination of dynamic driving experience and high adaptability to everyday use, Kodiaq RS is the first SUV able to combine all the features that distinguish each model of 2020 Skoda Kodiaq RS.
A perfect model for everyday use, from excursions to large purchases, from business trips to sports and leisure. The sporty driving pleasure will be particularly pleasing to customers with a dynamic and design-conscious lifestyle. Thanks to a very spacious boot, it can easily accommodate mountain bikes and other equipment such as skis and snowboards.
For the first time, a Skoda model comes standard with 20-inch Xtreme alloy wheels; the standard equipment also includes full LED front lamps and rear light clusters, also in LED technology. The bodywork details are in glossy black and the DSG transmission is 7-speed.
2020 Skoda Kodiaq RS Design
Skoda Kodiaq absolutely does not hide its kinship with the other noble sisters of the Volkswagen Group to which it belongs and the details that differentiate it from the optical groups have been guessed. Elegant and fluid on the Kodiaq standard the look has been gradually customized on the off roadside with the Kodiaq Scout and elegant with the Sportline while the third variant pulls out all the grit deserving full the initials RS from the standstill.
The details really make the difference starting from the matching colors with which it is proposed, including a really good electric blue, but also red splits and for the more refined the opaque gray does not disappoint the expectations. Extreme sportiness enough to eliminate all the chrome to the advantage of an aggressive black that from the grid onwards characterizes the RS with an aggressive front but also the tail does not disappoint with the double discharges that give a pleasant sound inside the Sport selection where it is stressed the acoustics so much that you would not think to be on board a Diesel while supported by a biturbo..
Interior – Luxury
Alcantara and leather reign supreme, the instrumentation with 5 graphics customizations along with many goodies like the generous and enveloping sports seats make it not only close but even superior to rivals who ask for 10 or even 15,000 euros more. Beautiful the bridge, perfect tunnel, premium finishes and very interesting materials confirming the remarkable steps forward made by Skoda in recent years.
2020 Skoda Kodiaq RS Performance
Kodiaq is certainly not a compact car with its 4.70 meters in length or light with 2421 as it is not narrow with its 1.88 meters wide that ensure great comfort space for its 5 or 7 passengers. His identity card is impressed starting from the 500 Nm of torque that assures absolute level performance starting from the zero to 60 in 6.9 seconds and the 221 maximum speed times that for a 2.4 ton missile are incredible values if permits from a 2 liter diesel oil appropriately vitaminized with an excellent biturbo that on one side makes you have fun but on the other hand also thinks of the portfolio with consumption that oscillates in the WLTP cycle between 7.6 and 8.2 liters.
2020 Skoda Kodiaq RS Price
€ 48,900 turnkey with super equipment that also includes 20 “wheels and all the best electronics in the group starting from the most advanced safety ADAS. Of course it makes a species if you think that the entry level of the Kodiaq family is offered at 28.470 euros, 20,000 euros less, but if you want the same things on a premium brand you have to add as many. At the list price (if you do not buy it before the first of March) you will have to add the malus as its emissions exceed 160 g / km between 200 and 216.9 g / km which means an extra charge on a car which is approved Euro 6 ter and therefore we do not understand this fury towards modern cars that meet strict European standards.
On the road the Skoda Kodiaq is splendid putting you at ease, satisfying your mood becoming soft and docile if you want relaxed driving or a real beast if you want to download the tensions of the day in a dirt road or with three well-set curves, always respecting the highway code! Perfect ergonomics, always intuitive controls and easy to reach, perfect air conditioner with a navigator that should certainly be studied a few minutes longer. Beautiful outside, the Skoda RS impressed us in the interior very functional and with a trunk that would have been nice to fill the Ferrari Cellars where unfortunately we did not have time to make a pleasant stop.
Kodiaq Methane & 7Tech
We close by remembering that Skoda wanted to combine the best of Kodiaq proposing the 7TECH version where 7 is the magic number that recalls the 7 seats, the 7 standard ADAS equipment and the 7 connectivity systems that make the car complete , safe and technologically advanced with a noticeable customer advantage so much that the 4 × 2 2.0 TDI costs 37.080 euros and the all-wheel-drive 2,000 euros more.
Last but not least, the return of methane in the Skoda range is now imminent, awaiting interesting electrical surprises!
