2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport: hi-tech Hybrid Facelift
First photos of the 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport in a hybrid version, scheduled for 2020 along with the new Evoque. Both will also debut in a Plug-In variant
Land Rover is working on the mid-career update for its Discovery Sport, introduced in 2016. From our photographer’s shots, we can see how the forklift is still rather disguised.
According to the Autocar magazine, Land Rover is planning more substantial changes compared to the classic mid-cycle facelift to which the houses have become accustomed. Theoretically, this operation is part of the Land Rover plan to offer electrified variants of all models by 2020.
Land Rover will introduce an updated version of the D8 platform of the current model to date also known as LR-MS. The upgraded platform, which will offer more space and capacity for the electric units, will also be available on the new Range Rover Evoque, also coming out in 2020.
Still not known details on the engines, but always according to Autocar the basic model will be supplied with a mild-hybrid setup that will open the way to a more complete Plug-In Hybrid. Both on 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport and on Evoque then, it should debut the 3-liter in-line 1.5-liter engine coupled to the electric motor.
The debut of both versions is set for the first months of 2020.
