2018 Citroen C3 Aircross Review; Offroad Test of French SUV
Here is our comprehensive review of 2018 Citroen C3 Aircross features, redesign, horsepower, engine specs, fuel economy, interior, price and release date
Citroen C3 Aircross, new compact crossover of the brand of Alps, juggles on the dirt and offers los of loading space, but not for this renunciation of the wide personalization characteristic of the house. We tried the PureTech from 110CV and the BlueHDI from 120CV: Here are our impressions on the roads of Corsica
Here we landed in Corsica for the test drive of the Citroën C3 Aircross: Corsica is the island famous for the Tour de Corse, race valid for the World Rally Championship until 2008, the year in which he won the 9 times World Rally champion Sébastien Loeb with a Citroën C4 WR C. And now it’s up to us to test this C3 Aircross, on a path that winds around 200km between the interior and the coasts of the island. The C3 Aircross shares with the C3 the frame, but otherwise it is something else.
The French Company with this C3 Aircross has decided to enter the world of SUV in segment B, is in fact a compact crossover but at the same time very versatile, both as regards the external customization-are available in Europe Ben 85 Combinations of colours-both for the modularity of the interiors, where it starts from a minimum capacity of the trunk of 410 liters up to a maximum of 520 liters keeping the 5 seats available: The rear seats slide forward by 150 mm, mode that allows to Earn well 100 liters. Completely knocking out the rear seats you get to 1289 liters of trunk, the largest in its category. Other plus in terms of versatility is the option that allows to break down, “table”, also the front seat of the passenger, which allows you to load objects up to a length of 2.40 m.
The car has a very original design: No AirBump have been inserted in the sides, but the C3 Aircross is still adorned with some distinctive elements from the last riser which is made up of a kind of film with “Venetian” effect. Inserted into the polycarbonate to protect from prying eyes the trunk, an alternative other than the usual darkened glass.
The front is aggressive with an imposing grille for a small SUV: the rounded bonnet, the headlights of the LED daytime running lights that fit along the broken line between the bonnet and grille and in line with the Citroën symbol, while the main headlights are surrounded by a Frame with contrast color.
Even the “flares” are massive and gaudy, the wheels can be 16 or 17 inches and the height from the ground has been increased by well 20mm compared to C3, this to allow it to face some dirt safely.
Excellent Interior, there is plenty of space and as mentioned before with a great possibility of configuration depending on the needs, the loading plane is at an optimal height and the overhang between outside and inside is contained. On the front seats are positioned two armrests, passenger, and driver, which greatly increase the comfort. The dashboard is well equipped and easy to intuition, the main controls are easy to reach and the whole is complemented by a great touch screen perfectly integrated just below the central vents that does not annoy for anything the View and leave the plank line clean.
The view is in rectilinear gear and in addressing crossings is very satisfactory, you see well on all 180 degrees and also having a passenger of 1, 90m the view is not inhibited, also the mirrors have good projection capability along Both sides and also tightening a lot of the hairpin bends you can see the inner rear wheel.
Another thing that deserves to be cited are the systems of assistance to the guide: the 2018 Citroen C3 Aircross has very many available; Opening and ignition with Keyless, Head-Up Display, automatic Park Assist, emergency braking, blind angle sensors, speed limit recognition, lane maintenance control, driver’s attention control system, Camera for reversing manoeuvres and Grip Control equipped with Hill Descent, the latter very useful to face uphill departures and downhills with very high gradients.
As far as the engine is concerned, the C3 Aircross has 5 engines available; 3 Pure Tech Petrol respectively from 82, 110 and 130CV and 2 Blue HDi from 100 and 120CV. The standard gearbox is 6-speed manual, in the two most powerful gasoline engines, i.e. the 110 and the 130CV you can also opt for the automatic gearbox, while on Diesel engines is not expected, this for a commercial choice made by Citroën.
In our test drive two were the engines we could try, the PureTech 110CV and the BlueHDi from 120CV. Citroën has focused heavily on the wisely of consumption, so we find the two engines sufficiently satisfactory in terms of power and torque.
It is to be said that in the choice during the purchase perhaps it is better to opt for the two most powerful engines, both in gasoline and diesel, because this is a very large car-that lends itself to various uses and that it fits well even in long distances-in Mountain roads the less powerful engines would suffer.
Overall, we can say that the 2018 Citroen C3 Aircross is a very “ductile” car, which lends itself well to various uses, especially for travelling with the family, but it is not to underestimate its versatility that the door can be chosen also by lovers of Outdoor sports, thanks to its great load capacity and remain in the 4.15 meters in length, not even disdain the city paths.
Pity I could not count on a 4 × 4 traction, because given its optimum height from the ground, with the 4 × 4 would have been able to greatly increase its already good ability to face some narrow streets impervious.
